Maximizing Conversions via Quality Web Design

There are so many elements that contribute to securing a successful online business. Quality content, timely services, topnotch products, strong internet marketing skills and an increase in traffic all play important roles in the accomplishments of a website. However you should never underestimate the value of web design. By maintaining an excellent website you increase the odds of nabbing conversions as well.

Of course all websites have their fair share of problems. No matter how hard you may try, it is a given that your site will experience flaws and imperfections during its run. As long as you address those defects in a timely manner however the general public is willing to forgive your website for its problems. It is in your best interest then that you scope out your own website on a regular basis, searching for whatever mistakes that may be plaguing its operating capabilities. Once you seek out these errors, be sure you fix these dilemmas as quickly as possible.

Landing Pages are spots on your website where visitors are brought to following a search engine request. It is of the utmost importance that landing pages are designed towards securing visitors. Utilize popular yet accurate SEO keywords when developing the page in an effort to draw as much traffic as possible to your site. More importantly however, landing pages should contain well-written and persuasive calls to action. By including such credible and influential copy, you increase the odds of securing a conversion right off the bat. It is also imperative that these landing pages include persuasive segue ways to other parts of your website, leading visitors to other possible conversions, such as message boards, comment boxes or online shopping forms.

Try to do away with required logins during the initial web design phase. Visitors tend to be turned off by websites that ask for excessive personal information. If registration is absolutely necessary when dealing with your site, then make sure you ask for a limited amount of contact information. In other words, make the process as short and simple as possible. Although technically registrations are conversions, you may never secure them in the first place if they come across as tedious or require too much time.

Can someone give me web design advice?

I am new to web design. I created a website with the sole purpose of providing information. I used homestead.com for my template and it is a bit lack luster. My main problem is my landing page. I am having problems with people seeing my home page and then not progressing to my other pages. Would you please take a look and tell me what I can do to improve the image? Let me know if the content on the first page seems inviting or not…just give me an honest critique. Thank you so much.

http://www.solution-reviews.com <---The website that needs work

I agree with the first poster, fix those roll overs. I am not too crazy about the background either. I like the fading on it and you should make it fixed, that way users won’t see it repeating. On your blog page, I would make them several pages instead of making me scroll down to read it all. First I need to scroll my own browser page, then I needed to scroll down on your web page. The background is completely missing on your wholesale page. And last but not least, sadly i found the ad on the side of your home page more interesting than the page itself. I like mexico as much as you, especially playa del carmen, but I wouldn’t put a picture of me standing in front of one of the temple on my home page. The picture of you is fine, just get rid of the temple….my honest opinion.

Squeeze Page Bribes: are They Right for You?

Building an opt-in list often requires a marketer to entice potential subscribers with something akin to a gentle bribe. Most often the bribe comes in the form of a free ebook delivered as a “thank you” in exchange for the subscriber’s name and email address. But is this really the most effective form of squeeze page bribery, especially for the beginning list builder who’s promoting an affiliate product?

If you’re like me, you’ve given your email address away in exchange for a free ebook countless times. It’s no secret that most of these ebooks never get read. You probably have an entire graveyard of free-but-never-read ebooks somewhere on your hard drive.

This fact alone must give pause to anyone considering a list-building campaign that uses a free ebook to entice a potential subscriber to give up his or her email address. No matter how cleverly I fill my viral give-away with (potentially) moneymaking affiliate links, they’re no good to me if no one ever reads a line of the book.

This scenario is made even worse if I’m a beginning marketer. Once I’ve given away my free gift, I’ve lost most of the leverage I’m trying to gain through giving a gentle bribe. Yes, I have a subscriber. But what do I do now? Most beginning email marketers don’t have a convincing answer to this question because they don’t yet know how to write a follow-up autoresponder campaign powerful enough to convert subscribers into customers.

Most people who try to build a list in this way take a pretty conventional approach. They drive traffic to a squeeze page, usually through PPC campaigns, forum posts, or article marketing. This squeeze page offers a free download in exchange for a subscriber’s email address.

Good opt-in marketers then redirect their subscribers, sometimes after a double opt-in confirmation page, to the sales page of the product they’re really trying to sell. Less successful marketers just let their autoresponder service redirect subscribers to a generic “Thank You” page.

While this redirection tactic occasionally results in a direct sale, this type of campaign ultimately relies on a follow-up autoresponder series or newsletter to make the sale. Because the free ebook seldom gets read, it’s easy to see that if the beginning marketer can’t write a powerful follow-up campaign or engaging newsletter, he or she is often destined for disappointing results.

To avoid these pitfalls, I’ve looked for – and found – a different way. Instead of offering subscribers a gentle bribe on my squeeze page, I offer them an incentive. The incentive is found on a pre-sell page positioned between my squeeze page and the sales page of the affiliate product I’m really trying to sell.

My autoresponder service automatically redirects my subscribers to this “welcome” page after they opt-in. The page then pre-sells the subscriber on the affiliate product and offers to sweeten the deal if they click through and buy that product within a given period of time.

This deal sweetener is usually a high-quality ebook, but can also be some other quality digital product, including a nice video tutorial or even a review of some other product created with Camtasia. On a high-priced item, even a cash rebate is possible.

Whatever it is, offering a time-sensitive incentive instead of an up-front bribe gives me more leverage over my potential customers. By customizing my autoresponder series to link back to the pre-sell page instead of the sales page, I can incentivize my potential customer over and over. All in all, my chances of converting an opt-in to a sale significantly increase.

All that being said, sometimes a picture, or in this case a process, really is worth a thousand words.

That’s why I’ve included a link in this article’s resource box that points to an Opt-in Page that will walk you through and help you visualize the whole process: squeeze page, pre-sell page and sales page.

Check it out for yourself and see if this idea makes sense to you, too!

About the Author

Follow the opt-in process described above, from squeeze page to pre-sell page to sales page, by visiting http://acs.homebiz2000.com. Don’t forget to opt-in to see how the autoresponder series is used to refer subscribers back to the pre-sell page over and over. Of course, there’s a revealing – and valuable – free gift at the end of the series for all those who subscribe at http://acs.homebiz2000.com

Well, simply because a squeeze page is more than just a place for you to sell, it should also be a place for your to build your mailing list.

They are just as tired of spam in their inbox as you are. The key to getting their email address is to offer them something useful, something new, and something exciting.

Of course, you are probably thinking “what do I offer them?”. The Instant Squeeze Page Generator offers the answer to you. This program comes with access to several product that are designed to lure your visitors and gain you some new opt-ins at the same time. Again, this is another benefit of the generator. It takes care of everything for you, including offering your customers immediate access to their digital downloads. What could be better? If everything goes as planned, you have basically just found yourself an automatic mailing list builder.

where can i find some free email capturing html code I can put on my blog/website?

All I get are marketers trying to sell their software to do this. I just want simple directions and code on how to place an email capture square or landing page code that I can paste into my blog. I hope that makes sense!

is this what you mean?:

Unlimited Capture Pages

Unlimited Instant Capture Pages that Sell

Customizing a page for visitors to input their email address is very easy with this system. This email Capture Page is created over any website page you choose, and it does not require the purchase of a domain name and hosting. Also, there is no need to learn any type of code to set up the email capture page. Its easy as 1-2-3.

The easy cash and capture system works by putting a email capture page as part of the link to the destination page. For example, if you are offering candle making classes or selling a affiliate product, you can simply drive traffic to your email capture page link instead. Each visitor is given the opportunity to input their email address. After the visitor has input his or her email address they are directed to your candle making class page or directed to your affiliate product page. The genius with this system is you can set up the email capture page on any website, just by sending the traffic to the specific page link.

Easy Cash and Capture Page Pros:

1. The email capture page can be used for any website where it is allowed. For example, your mini website, your website, your blog, your larger scale capture page or Squeeze Page and your online flyers. My position in this area will vary hugely from anyone else who is using this system or other systems like these. Some people will elude to you being able to put this on your affiliate link sites, your social media sites like Facebook and Twitter…but I do not use this system to put my easy email Capture Page System on those types of sites. I use it to brand myself. I want my page on top of a site that I have built or my own blog. You will see my examples below.

2. The email capture page is easy to customize by utilizing a conventional editing toolbar similar to a word document. You can change the text, and upload images. When it comes to marketing online it is best to keep it simple. Marketing newbies are overwhelmed by all of the information and avenues to market their business.

This capture page system allows you to have step by step instruction on how to build a page. When visiting the site be sure to view the overview video.

3. Each page or funded proposal that you create are unique as this system does not offer any templates. This allows for more flexibility, and allows you to see which capture pages work best.

4. Videos have been proven to convert people to buy and to input their information. This system allows you to easily input video. There has been a huge phenomena when it comes to video. One of the main attraction points for people to join business opportunities is getting to know like and trust a person. It truly helps when a person can see who they are buying from and or who they will partner with.

Youtube anymore now and other video sharing sites are being used as a search engine in the same manner as Yahoo or Google. There are thousands of people coming on the Internet looking for better ways to market their business and seek out business opportunities, and individuals are drawn to the various video sharing sites.

5. There are four ways to build a strong list with this easy cash and capture system. You can choose to use the autoresponder services of your choice. (Icontact, Aweber or Get Response and more). Once you set up your autoresponder form, just copy and paste the form code into the specified area. There is an option to have the system capture the information and email address, an option to build your Twitter followers, and an option to build your very own funded proposal.

6. Unlimited capture pages can be built with this system. Whatever links that are established you can decide to stop sending visitors to the final page at any time. Therefore if and when you desire to send visitors to another page after they input their email address its possible just by editing or updating the final destination website address.

7. The email list belongs to you. Building a list is very important. This point can not be reiterated more. Once you become more aware of what it takes to build a list you will always hear professionals say the statement “the money is in the list”. What that actually means is once you begin to get people attracted to your company, your home based business, your affiliate program, your hobby, your skill, your gift, your cause and or your abilities you will be able to conversate with your list as much as you want via email.

One tip that normally makes it somewhat easy to build a list is to offer the potential client/customer something free. Give people an incentive to leave their email address, first and last name. One example is if you have a juice company offer people a mini magazine on vitamins and how to eat healthy. Keep in mind to always give more in value when providing information.
8. The email capture pages are all hosted on the easy cash and capture page system.

9. There is a one time low lifetime membership fee of $39. There are no monthly fees with this system whatsoever. As people shop around

10. The capture page link addresses are all easy cash and capture page urls. This is useful as it will hide your affiliate link or website link from the consumer which gives you a chance to form a relationship with your potential consumer before they head off to your product or service.

Easy Cash and Capture Page Cons: 1. There are online marketers who put this email capture page on any and every site and it is my recommendation to only put this page on a site that you own. (your blog, your website, your mini site, etc.) I do not technically suggest to put this page on Twitter or Facebook as it in my opinion puts up a barrier for people to get to know you. No one wants to give their email and phone number to someone they just met on a social networking site.

Easy Cash and Capture Page System makes it easy to build a email capture page. This email marketing tool will allow users to build their very own email list. We are often told that the Money is in the list. The money in the list means: build a list of contacts and than keep them updated with product information utilizing your personal email or email autoresponders.

This information in this article was derived from the Easy Cash and Capture site and from personal experience building a easy cash and capture page for a class.

Document Capture Software Reduces Healthcare Paper Management Cost

Medical facilities including hospitals, clinics and providers are migrating to alternative data management systems. HIPAA regulations are moving toward requirements that will change the way medical information is handled. The regulations include new standards for scanning and imaging to guarantee quality and accuracy and reduce cost.

Software document imaging solutions such as Vircosoft’s vFiler document capture & indexing system (commonly referred to as “Automated Hands-Free Filing) helps medical facilities meet the emerging regulations. Bundled with a powerful easy to use document management system such as HighPoint enable providers to better focus on other areas to provide the highest level of care and not be bogged down with the mountains of paper being generated.

Automated filing frees employees from the challenges of repetitive work demanded by manual paper processing. The vFiler Forms Recognition Edition can process thousands of documents automatically with 100% accuracy allowing employees to focus on other tasks thereby reducing costs and improving accuracy.

The ability to capture and store medical records, encounter forms and lab results in electronic form is a key factor in the modernization of healthcare. Sales orders are the lifeblood of a manufacturing company. Automating the sales process by capturing sales order data can speed input of orders, raise accuracy, and make an organization more responsive to customers and deliver goods and services faster, thereby raising customer satisfaction.

For healthcare providers that offer health plans, the processing of medical claims is the most labor-intensive aspect. Automating data entry from claims can eliminate the “heavy lifting” of claims processing and increase accuracy, reduce duplicate claims and maintain HIPAA compliance.

When a Payor submits a claim for payment the claim also has an EOB attached detailing the item(s) paid on a claim. Healthcare providers have to manually review each EOB to make sure that the proper totals have been received, Document capture and automation dramatically increases the processing of EOBs, including multi-page and multi-patient EOB’s common with large institutions.

The vFiler Document Capture & Indexing Software Features Include:

• Hardware Independent – Monitors / Watches folders
• All MFPs and Scanners Supported
• Capture from Multiple Folders Simultaneously
• Capture from Outlook
• Auto-Orientation
• Automatically Split Multi-page Documents Easily
• Straightens, de-speckles, de-skews, rotates, and resizes
• Reads 16 different barcode types
• OCR Multiple Zones, Full Page, or ALL Pages
• Creates searchable PDFs during indexing automatically
• Interface to YOUR accounting system through ODBC for
data validation – creating “hands-free scanning workflows
• UNLIMITED DOCUMENT PROCESSING – no click charges
• High-end Forms Recognition (Template Training)
• Metadata Publishing
• OMR Processing
• Marked Processing
• Document Imprinting (Bates Stamping)
• Process and automatically file multiple document types and
departments simultaneously – via Workflow Loader
• Output documents and index data to Windows Folders
• Output documents and index data to Text File (comma delimited ect)
• Output documents and index data to Jet or any ODBC databases
• Automatically File documents to HighPoint and create folders
automatically
• Launch HighPoint Workflows automatically by publishing document
types or to specified folders creating email alerts from subscriptions
• Links indexed variables to HighPoint metadata

Landing Page Quality Score

landing page quality score

Landing Page Optimization for lower cost bids

Google Adwords is a fairly unique advertising system, many other ad networks do not take your Landing Page Relevance into consideration, while Adwords bases how much you will pay per click on the “quality” of your landing page. Regardless if you are able to create a high converting landing page, if Google does not like it, they will not run it.

Your Landing Page Quality is determined by a system called Quality Score. Quality Score is a rating out of ten, assigned to every keyword individually. This means that if you are running a lot of random keywords in a single Adgroup, your quality score will vary wildly from keyword to keyword. Creating individual Adgroups for keyword sets will somewhat regulate your quality score.

In the affiliate marketing industry, it is very difficult to run ads through Adwords. This is caused by the duplicate content filter which would recognize the Ad text on the publishers landing page immediately. The same applies to most Lead Capture Pages, or any page with little text describing what product the user is going to be purchasing.

Creating targeted Landing Pages is an important process when using Adwords. Base the landing pages on your Adgroups if they are well organized. Here are a few simple optimization tips:

  • Lightly increase the keyword density for a few different keywords
  • Create outbound link to sites relevant to your category
  • If you have a secure checkout, promote the security logo (increases consumer confidence as well)
  • Add a YouTube video (create one yourself if need be)
  • Add a comments section (ensure it is strictly moderated)
  • Remove advertisements if they are not what you’re trying to sell

These are a few ways to easily optimize your Adwords campaign and save money. Visit my blog for more basic Adwords help.

Landing Page Quality Score
Landing Page Quality Score

What is a Quality Score?

A quality score means different things to different people, of course. The use of the phrase as it applies to online searches has a specific definition, and a good grasp of its meaning can be the difference between a successful online ad campaign and a total waste of advertising dollars.

The attention of the online shopper can be difficult to catch, considering the abundance of search engines and methods of link networking that are employed in the virtual marketplace. Resting at the core of online commerce is the accepted unit of exchange known as the keyword.

Search engine providers develop their pricing structures based on the integrity of the keywords that the advertiser uses in their online ad campaigns. This scale of judgment considers the success of the keyword in attracting attention, how relevant it is to the content of the text, and how it appears on the home page or other landing pages.

These criteria are the factors which make up a quality score, which determines how much an advertiser pays for the service as well as how often their websites or web pages appear on the search engine provider’s network.

Exposure is everything in online advertising, and to maximize their exposure the advertiser must try to obtain the highest quality score possible with each and every ad campaign. This will not only increase their presence on the web, but will also allow them to get the most exposure for their money.

A quality score is based on the history of the click-through-rate, or CTR, that the keyword has shown. CTR is the essential element in determining the worthiness of a keyword in attracting hits on a site or a page. In other words, how well a keyword performs in convincing the online searcher to click on a link when they land on a search results page determines the value of the keyword to the search engine provider as well as to the advertiser themselves.

The goal of any advertiser who employs the services of a search engine should be to gain the highest possible ranking on the search registry, thereby attaining the best possible position to attract attention. This ad ranking is in fact obtained by having the highest quality score for a keyword, which also affects how much the advertiser will pay for their ad placement.

Considering the fact that online advertising is rated on a pay-per-click basis, it would only make sense to increase the ways that an online shopper will have access to the advertiser’s website or web pages. Having a high quality score not only increases the possibility of this, but also allows the advertiser the best chance of expanding their reach on the search engine network at a proportionate rate of advertising spending. The better the score, the higher the ranking, the more exposure, the less money spent.

The online advertiser should obviously analyze their own ad campaigns using these criteria, not only to save on advertising costs but to earn that position at the top of the search results page.

3 Tips For A Successful Landing Page

I’m not going to lie to you. Affiliate marketing is hard if you don’t know what you’re doing. Sure it’s easy to sign up with all the affiliate merchants, collect your affiliate link and banners for as many products as possible with the intention of promoting all the products but it’s just not going to happen unless you have a proven strategy.

Here are 3 tips to help you create powerful Landing Pages that will not only add more buyers to your subscriber list but also rank you high in the search engine results page.

Tip 1 – Include a sign-up form to build a buyer’s list.

This is important! You want to collect the names and Emails of every single person that lands on your page. If they’ve happily given you their information you are allowed to follow–up with them and finalize any missed sales. Not only that but you’ll be able to build a database of trusted buyers who will respond highly to you in the future if you’ve got another interesting product to promote either as an affiliate or a product of your own!

Tip 2 – Include a bonus package for buying through you!

People actually ‘Google’ product names for reviews and bonuses. They want to see what exactly a product is about without all the hype and want to see what bonuses are available for that product. When they’ve made a decision to buy they want to see who’s offering the best bonus package. Make a mental note of this because this is your chance to shine and out-do your competition!

Tip 3 – Optimize your landing page for specific keywords!

Don’t waste your time trying to target the highly competitive keywords that all the mainstream websites are after. You’re much better off picking a handful of high-targeted keywords based around the product’s name, a review of the product’s name, problems with the product’s name, the product’s name with ‘bonus’, and so on. Add these keywords and phrases to your title tags, meta description tags, h1 tags, h2 tags and on the first and last paragraph of your page. How to use Google Adwords keyword tool

The concept of Google AdWords might seem fairly simple initially; by bidding on a selection of Google AdWords Keywords, waiting for the ads to run you then receiving masses of visits making you lots of money. It certainly sounds great, right?

Click here to see how the new Keyword Tool will help you explode your affiliate marketing profits!

The fact is Google AdWords can be lucrative and can be used for selling your own products or services; you can also use the program to promote an affiliate product. Because the Google AdWords program has a reputation for being lucrative and successful you should certainly give it your consideration however there are also tales of individuals losing sums of money through its use as well. Reading this article will help avoid any losses by making a good start.

The vital aspect of using this program is to select the proper Google AdWords Keywords to bid on; if you pay for clicks that fail to convert into sales then you might find yourself in a little financial trouble. The most cost effective method is to locate profitable Google AdWords Keywords and discard the surplus items that fail to perform.

Some information suggests that you can make a fortune with a ’set and forget’ system with Google AdWords, this is untrue; at least, not at first. Once you make your Google AdWords Keywords selection that you wish to bid on, you need to keep your eye on them for a couple of reasons. Firstly, if Google detects that your ad fails to receive sufficient clicks in comparison to the exposure it receives, they will cease running that ad. The second reason, mentioned briefly above, is that if you are bidding on Google AdWords keywords that are generating plenty of clicks that do not convert well, this must be rectified.

Prior to commencing your campaign you should create landing pages on your site for each keyword or group of related keywords. Each page should also display tracking statistics so that you can identify which keywords are driving people to your site and resulting in sales, this would also help you to determine which Google AdWords keywords you need to look at more closely.

Ads that fail to convert to sales are not always an indication that there are problems with the keyword; the ad itself could be the real problem. It may be there is a hitch with the copywriting on your landing page or the layout of the page; alternatively you may be losing sales because there is another link on the page that visitors are clicking instead of the buy link.

Certainly it can be tricky to know exactly what Google AdWords keywords will be most profitable against those of probably no value in terms of return. A sensible suggestion to guard against losing money is to properly consider the use of software to automate this process and focus on the profitable keywords, this way with a little financial outlay you will considerably reduce your chances of losing money with Google AdWords.

You Only Get 5 Seconds. Starting Now!

Where have I landed?

What do I do, get or buy from here?

These 2 questions needs to be answered for your website visitors within the first 3-5 seconds of them landing on your page.

If you’re able to effectively answer these questions and your visitor doesn’t leave, then you have no more than 5 more seconds to answer some more questions:

Why should I do something?

These are the 3 key questions that your Landing Page needs to answer. And they must be answered quickly if you want your online business to be a success.

You may never have thought about this, but when most people end up on your site, they are really hoping their search is over. You will be the one that has the solution to their problem, or can satisfy their need for information, a product, or a service. They’re hoping this because they really don’t want to spend any more time than necessary to find what they’re looking for.

Very few people wake up and say “Today, I’m going to waste 4 hours searching and comparing features to find the best online parenting class.” More likely, they’re saying, “Oh no, I have that court date coming up, and I haven’t found a parenting class yet. I need to get going on that. I hope I can find one fast.”

And which site usually gets their business? Naturally, it will be a site on the first page of the search engine results, but that’s for another article. Besides that, it will be the one that has successfully answered our three question quickly and thoroughly for the reader.

Where have I landed? – Clearly, this question (should) be answered by the title of the site and the URL. But other items on the page can help your visitors come up with an answer to this question as well. Is this a reputable company? Does the site look professionally designed, or like your nephew put it together in computer class? Your sites’ appearance says a lot about your company.

More than anything else, except possibly for copy, this is the biggest failure I see online businesses making.

If you are using the Wordpress blog platform, you have no excuse to have an unprofessional looking site. There is a huge selection of quality premium Wordpress themes that are available today. With just a few hours and a few dollars (usually no more than $79), you can build yourself a sharp, professional site. If this small investment of your time and money isn’t worth it to you, your site will show it. And many people hesitate to do business with a company that can’t be bothered with a quality site.

Even for simple “squeeze” or sales pages, there’s a right and a wrong way to do it. If done wrong, I’ll guarantee you it has cost you sales.

Granted, design is subjective, but you should be following at least some basic guidelines and standards in order to create a credible, professional appearance.

What do I do, get or buy from here?

This may be a little harder to answer. You need to have a solid understanding of what your visitors are looking for, and convey that in a clear statement of your business’ most important benefit. An effective example would be a well-crafted tag line for your company.

Too often I see company’s make the mistake of coming up with some clever slogan, which mean nothing to their average visitor. They’ve lost out on the opportunity to really capture the readers attention and instead have created confusion. And confusion doesn’t sell, it makes people run. That’s no good.

The headline or tag line of your website should clearly state what a user can expect to do, get or buy from your site. Say it plainly and make it very easy to understand. Test your headline by showing it to different people and asking for their initial reaction. Get them to tell you in less than 5 seconds what your site is asking them to do.

Why should I do something?

Possibly the hardest question to answer for your readers, it requires that you set yourself apart from the crowd. How are you different from your competitors? Can I really trust you with my information? How is your free report going to help me? Basically, they’re listening to WII-FM, What’s In It For Me? How will being a part of your site, at whatever level, going to solve my problems, save me time, save me money, make life easier, make me happy, etc…?

What’s the rush? Can’t it wait until tomorrow? What will I miss by not acting now? Do I get anything for acting quickly?

There can be lots more variations, but I think you get the picture. Honestly, you probably won’t know the correct answer unless you try testing to see what your readers are connecting with. You can use surveys or polls, and split test your landing page with a few different versions of your copy.

Give visitors what they’re looking for, make it easy, and make it urgent and your conversions will go through the roof.

Which Is More Important A Great Ad Banner Or Landing Page?

I often get attracted to high quality ad banners displayed on various Web Design Forums or SEO Forums etc and they are tempting enough to be clicked. It seems that’s the end of it as I come back immediately after visiting the landing page.

Most of the serious advertisers are into pay-per-click, banner advertising, pop-up ads and other internet advertising methods to generate more traffic on their websites and convert them as well.

No doubts they must be getting a huge amount of traffic through their publishers, however; does that really convert for the advertisers?

Most of the traffic is sent to Landing Pages, if not the actual websites and the visitors get to read quick notes about where they are and what they will get if they fill up the short form glittering at a side on that well designed web page. A landing page provides an entry point to your website for visitors who reach your website by clicking through from an external link. When someone searches for one of your keywords and then clicks through to your website they should enter on a page containing information specific to that keyword.

Advertisers may end up paying more for less if the landing pages are not suitably design or if it is missing important call to action elements.

  1. The landing page should have a great header with a wide image, highly relevant to the product and its benefits. Visual descriptions are more suitable for human brains.
  2. Bullet points must be there to describe the product and services quickly. Remember visitors are mostly in a hurry or want to act fast.
  3. A strategic placement of Call to Action elements will guide the visitors to the Enquiry form. For. E.g. use of arrows, excellent buttons
  4. A very well designed form with enough space for Name, Emails can attract more leads.
  5. Use of fresh and bigger fonts to enhance the reading experience. It helps the visitors read more.

Try the methods mentioned in the article above and see the change in your lead generation campaigns yourself.

How to Know if your Website is Killing your Business

Just because you build it, and they come… doesn’t mean they’ll stay.

So you’ve got Google adwords, banner ads, co-registration and joint venture deals, postcards, print ads, radio commercials, your mother-in-law and everyone else you can bribe, cajole and threaten, driving traffic to your website.

Yes! You’re an absolute genius at driving traffic to your website. You’re getting a gazillion hits and unique page impressions—every minute!

You’ve got so much traffic, tying up so much bandwidth, that Al Gore is thinking of producing a new movie about you: An Inconvenient Internet Presence: How one marketer destroyed what I invented.

And yet, despite all your fame and glory… no one’s buying what you’re selling!

In other words…

Your Website Sucks!

Way back in the stone age of internet history… roughly five or so years ago… a website was a website was a website.

They all looked alike, they all worked alike (which basically meant they really didn’t do anything) and they all accomplished the same thing—pretty much nothing.

A website was a virtual business card. And since every business ordered business cards, every business ordered a website.

And then vanity and misguided creativity took hold of the entrepreneurial imagination.

The business card website quickly evolved into a multi-varied, multi-page behemoth. And as technology grew faster than our ability to master its consequences, the art of website design became an addiction—consuming the health, time, patience and money of the website owner—and the unwary visitor.

Pop-ups, hover-overs and other hovercraft, web 2.0, RSS, flash media, video, audio, 4-wheel drive, GPS, this and that, inspired and invigorated web developers and designers to continually raise the bar. Their ultimate end game: keeping visitors hostage to a website—tossing them into the black hole of web pyrotechnics, where nothing, not even light can escape.

And it didn’t bother them in the least that their Frankenstein website creations required an eternity to load on the average computer screen—eating RAM, disturbing REM, crashing hard drives, destroying transmissions, shackling legs in irons—lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Okay, let’s get back on track here…

Today, there are basically two and a half types of websites… those that inform and educate, those that inform educate and sell… and those that only sell.

Do You Know to Which Group Your Website Belongs?

Are you sure?

As a marketing and sales copywriter—I can tell you in a heartbeat.

I get phone calls and emails—almost daily—from individuals and company representatives lamenting the fact that their website doesn’t convert, and they want to know if I can help.

My first question, of course, is… how much money you got, pal?

Just kidding… but it is in the back of my mind.

Anyway… here are those two and a half website styles in a nutshell… and in their absolute worst incarnations…

The “I’ve really got nothing to say” Website

Typically, this website belongs to a small business owner. They’ve got a single product or a single service that they’re offering—yet, they have 20 or more pages on their website.

They’ve got a home page, a contact page, an about us page, a mission page, a subscribe-to-our-newsletter page, a link page, a testimonial page, a preferred vendor page, a site page, a leave-a-comment page and a product page for each person, animal, business or situation for which this one product can be of use.

But… there’s only two or three sentences on each page—if that much! So by default or design, graphical wizardry fills the remaining and yawning void.

Now, is there anything wrong with having a “brochure” style website?

Of course not—if you’re GE, Amazon, Dell Computer or any other business that has a diverse and extensive product and service mix.

For quicker and easier surfing (read: optimized usability) such a company needs a website that will logically and intuitively segment their wares and information on to different web pages.

But, if your company is a one-trick pony… a microsite will do you just fine.

Why waste your visitor’s time, forcing them to click here and there (and out of boredom flee to your competitor’s website), when everything they need to know and find about you, your product or service can comfortably and ergonomically fit on one page?

“…But I don’t want my website to look like one of those long-scrolling websites, you know, the type that sells information products!”

You’re laughing. Trust me… I hear that all the time, and it kills me.

My preferred retort to that bit of ignorance should be: “Well, those sites, the better conceived ones, typically rack up millions of dollars in sales—usually in a very short time. And so how much did you make last week?”

But instead, I politely suggest that they be sure to tell their web designer that he or she should stay away from that sort of, uh, look—but still put it on one page (two at the most).

Which now brings us to “that” sort of look, or site, the long scrolling, one-page kind.

The Kick-butt, Killer Commando Website

Because I don’t want to get into the debate, again, over whether long copy outsells short copy (it absolutely does!)… let me just state that a long scrolling, one-page, “information product kind” of website has but one purpose in its virtual life. To sell one thing—and to sell that one thing right off the page—right then and there!

And because “properly executed” websites of this kind can sell, and sell very well… uninitiated and salivating entrepreneurs who won’t take the time—or spend the money—to achieve a similar level of selling sophistication… will blindly, poorly and sacrilegiously copy that type of website’s form and style—while ignoring its compelling substance.

They’ll slap up a website, using a website design program they downloaded off the internet the night before.

And then they’ll fill it up with pages and pages (the amount of which seemingly corresponds, oddly enough, to the entrepreneur’s age) of overblown, hype-filled, irrelevant, stream of conscious verbal diarrhea.

And Holy Baloney! the impossible promises they make—with no credible proof provided—and the multitude of “freebies” offered (valued at thousands of dollars more than the $49.95 or $495 program, system or product being hawked)—is an absolute marvel to behold.

And then, of course, there’s the false deadline and limited supply (without a reasonable explanation as to why).

The list of unadulterated snake oil BS, sales gaffs and obvious chicanery on these sites is endless—indeed, the list is as long as the website.

Fortunately though, few are swindled, and these sites disappear relatively quickly, simply because…they don’t sell well.

And yet… the online, long-copy, scrolling sales letter, when conceived with good and honest intentions and executed with consummate sales skill, can quickly create a fortune, and a loyal and well-deserved following for a gifted entrepreneur where neither existed before.

That cheap imitations have muddied the worth and image of one of the mightiest and most sublime manifestations of salesmanship in print… is unfortunate. But they will endure… to the benefit of seller… and customer.

Which now brings us, finally, to the website by half…

The Landing, Splash, Squeeze Page

This rose by any other name—should be short, sweet and to the point.

What a surgical military strike is to the field of combat, the landing page is to the theater of marketing. Its sole purpose is conversion—to get the reader to buy, subscribe or inquire—fast. All the “selling and persuasion” typically comes before the visitor lands on this short-copy, quick-strike page.

Interestingly, one mistake many marketers make in regard to the landing page is not in the design of one—but in the lack of one.

They’ll do all the right things (hopefully) to generate traffic—but rather than drive the visitor to a page that is a dedicated follow-up to the ad the visitor just read—they drive them to their company’s home page, instead.

Then the visitor has to hunt and click for their particular item of interest.

If you give a visitor/potential buyer the slightest opportunity to get sidetracked and not complete the desired action—they will!

Another mistake is not designing the landing page to look and read the same way as the ad that attracted them in the first place. In short, there’s no continuity—no sense that they’re in the right place—primarily because there’s no repetition of the offer made in the ad.

Even though the potential customer has already been seduced, persuaded and sold on purchasing your product or service—or just providing their email address—you still must continue to seduce, persuade and sell them on your landing page.

You just don’t have to take as much time doing it. Just repeat the salient selling points already made in the ad—including the guarantee or risk reversal element.

But don’t be too quick and smart about it, either.

Don’t request your customer’s credit card number in a cold, calculating and peremptory manner. Continue to entice and excite your customers on your landing page—so that they can’t bear to wait a moment longer to give you their name and email address… or their money.

Can I get some feedback on my site?

I recently posted a question asking for feedback on my site – I got a few good answers. I’ve since updated the site to include flash on the landing page – Can you now have another evaluation of the landing page and others. Including what you think of the background, About us page, multi angle view of the shorts on offer and rate it 1 to 10 – 10 being like amazon and 1 being a really bad site – Please try to exclude the lack of available items as these will increase in the near future. I know we have a split domain and at the moment I am unable to remedy this so there’s not much point on comments for this.

Site is at https://shortsandshirts.evolveshop.com.au
