Landing Page or Blog?

An important part of your business is having a successful blog to send leads to. As of three or four years ago the word blog was virtually non-existent, but today blogs have become a major and influential part of the World Wide Web. Blogs can be written by individuals who wish to express their thoughts and their daily occurrences, or where people gather to share an interest, i.e. home businesses, and to promote themselves.  Many people may think that a blog may not be necessary if you have a landing page up and running, but in reality Landing Pages only cause a handful of actions from your followers.

A landing page will only get you so far. The main purposes of this type of page is to get visitor to buy something, to get them to click to another page, get a guest to tell a friend, or to get the sightseer to leave you some information in order for you to contact them.

So you may still think that your landing page is all you need, but isn’t this business all about making connections, making your leads feel confident in you and your product? Your blog is a great place to send people to so they can learn more about you.

A simple term: attraction marketing. Making people want to learn more about you and in turn them wanting to know what you have to offer. Give people information but tell them to go to your blog to learn more. Same thing with articles. Give catchy titles, and get your reader intrigued then send them to your blog to read it. By getting your reader to go to your page they will find what they came to look for but then undoubtedly look around, learn more about you, see pictures of you doing activities that you enjoy, your hobbies, hanging out with your friends and family, and see you being a real person. It gives them reassurance that your opportunity is not a scam.

You need to connect to your potential leads in a way that makes them feel comfortable and not like you just want to take money from them. You need to convey your mindset that you are here to help and educate them.

Using your Myspace Profile as a Landing Page

Landing pages come in a lot of different shape and forms but creating a MySpace landing page, or any type of social media for that matter, should be approached quite differently than your basic PPC templates that most people still tend to use. The reason for this is simple. People on social sites like MySpace do not want to be slapped across the face with product pages or quick opt in Squeeze Pages. They want to be social. With this is mind, here are some simple tricks to make the most of your MySpace landing pages.

First you need to understand why someone would look at your MySpace landing page. The most basic answer is a simple one. They want to know more about you. That means that you need to give them this information instead of a sales pitch.

Think of it this way:

A standard PPC Squeeze Page or landing page is almost like a door to door salesman or those annoying kiosk workers in the mall trying to get your attention while you are walking from store to store, so that they can sell you something. Hopefully, for their sake, something that would interest you.

Since MySpace is essentially a 24 hour a day social gathering, a MySpace landing page needs to be more like a person who walks into a bar full of regulars. They will want to know a little bit about you, and you will want them to like you. After you talk for a while, they introduce you to other regulars, and more people after that. Essentially, you MySpace landing page needs to have a more casual tone.

Here are some simple ways to make your MySpace landing page more casual in tone.

Start by thanking the reader for stopping by. This lets them know that you are thinking about them, and that you appreciate them for being there. Nothing fancy, just an explicit “Thank You”.

Next, you need to include a quality photo. This is important because being in a more social mindset, people want to know who are, and a picture can go a long ways in establishing a relationship with them.

You should also give them a quick and simple bio about who you are and what you do. This does not need to be all business, it just needs to keep their interest and teach them a little more about why they should be interested in what you have to say.

Finally, shoot them some additional links such as: your blog, your website, your other social profiles, and the like. This will not only help your page rank for all of these links, but will also inspire people to visit your other online real estate.

As a parting goodbye, let them know what you do on MySpace. Do you only promote products? I hope not. So let them know what is in store for them as they continue to deal with you on MySpace.

The one thing to remember about creating your MySpace landing page over everything else, is that the people that visit this page are not expecting a hard sell, so do not give them one. They are their to be social and have an online party. Don’t get all serious and crash their party, or they simple will ignore what you have to say in the future.

What happened to my Adsense CTR?

For about a year now I have been getting about 300 visits per day to my blog and for the past month I’ve been earning 1-2 dollars per day from adsense.

Anyways, about two days ago I added a landing page to my blog to promote an ebook I wrote. Next thing you know two things happened.

1. My CTR tanked and now I’m making 20 cents a day.

2. My traffic shot up and I’m getting 700 visitors per day. My pageviews also shot up to 1,000 per day.

What is going on? With the exception of the landing page, everything else is the same.

Any ideas?

As the first answerer says, it seems people are more interested in your ebook; making ads less attractive. One should consider a blog space as some valuable real estate; attractive locations and making an asset attractive has its effect in the entire blog real estate.

Many big blogger know this really well. So they make a conclusive decision about “What their revenue stream will be”– CTR ads or selling some service/product.

When a blogger chooses the second option , i.e if he/she chooses to earn revenue by selling products or services, he just makes his blog as some community building medium. Hence he gives something like a free ebook in return of subscription.

So if you want to earn revenue from CTR ads then I suggest you to focus on blog content– something which shows good context ads; and remove the ebook download.
