Why American car critics hate SMART FOR TWO?

Just today i read this article and i find it hillarious:

they are considering a SMART FOR TWO like a car for the big road.
a SMART is a city car!

Because the Smart is unsuitable for most Americans. It’s small, slow, and doesn’t get significantly better mileage than some more substantial cars. Also it’s a deathtrap, In Europe where small cars are the norm, it’s not at as big a disadvantage as it is here where the average car is much bigger, and the average SUV is about 3 times bigger than the Smart. Smart can harp on about it’s safety cell, but you can’t engineer your way out of the laws of physics.
