Mistakes in PPC Landing Pages to be Avoided for Better Conversion

Landing Page is typically used to describe the page where visitors are brought on clicking an Internet advertisement. This page has to be well thought out and executed to achieve the marketing goals. The key objective of landing page is to produce a conversion whether it is a sale, a sign up, or just a lead. In other words, a landing page is also a sales page, where the call for action occurs. When the landing page is not designed well the conversion rate is reduced significantly.

Common Mistakes of Landing Pages to be avoided

The following are some of the common mistakes of PPC landing pages that should be avoided.

• Your page may be too clustered – It distracts the visitors in their search and can even divert your conversion. If the content, images or the popups of your landing page are clustered, there will be a negative affect on the conversion rate.

• Multiple calls to action – There shouldn’t be more than one or two calls to action, else it creates confusion in the minds of the visitors.

• Irrelevant text or description – Keep the content short, simple and on the topic. Any additional unrelated text on your landing page can dilute the message. Generate an effective call to execute on the landing page. Conversion should be made simple and easy, as there is little time with the visitor for the conversion.

• Incorrect information damages credibility – If the facts on the landing page are incorrect, there is a possibility of loosing credibility with your customers. Ensure the information provided on the landing page is correct.

• Don’t annoy the visitors – You shouldn’t irritate the visitors with the popups or banners that typically irritate the customers. Agitated customers don’t convert well. Acquire their attention by providing solutions for their needs that the page can serve them.

The above information explains some of the mistakes on landing pages. Ensure that you have thought through these points in order to reach your conversion goal targets.

This is the first part of the article on building good landing pages. We will create a second part of this article shortly that covers other common mistakes that reduce the effectiveness of the landing pages.

Money Making Landing Pages

If you’ve been looking on line for merely 10 minutes you know there are tools, resources and systems available to help network marketers build their wealth on line.

The question is, what works?

First we’ll discover the 6 significant parts in an effective lead capture or landing page.

You have 2 choices.

1. You can design your own landing pages and tie them in with your sales funnel or directly to your MLM
2. You can participate in a marketing mastermind group that offers you high converting landing pages and a training platform.

I prefer the marketing system, even if you have experience marketing on the web and trust you can write good ad copy. A system will empower your team and train the rookies.

When creating your own landing pages or evaluating a marketing system and the tools it offers there are six critical factors to look for in the layout according to David Garfinkel.

Explore my training Blog for a video tour looking at effective pages.

1. The COPY itself should have three critical elements
a. Headline With Compelling Benefits
b. Bullets Highlighting Your Irresistible Offer
c. Good Opt In Copy To Eliminate Fear

2. COLOR – Bright background color may be eye-catching but is not the right choice for conversions. Background colors of dark blue, white or gray have proven to work for most audiences.

3. DESIGN – The look and feel of the lay out is important but by far your ad copy and proposal are what will urge your entrepreneurial audience. That’s not a permit to be sloppy just don’t lose site of the copy. Don’t get distracted with the visuals and lose time on the copy.

4. OFFER – This is the SIGNIFICANT piece – it must be powerful. The value of your offer must be more compelling than the need to safeguard their email address.
a. What your offer does for your prospect is more important than what it is
b. Build curiosity – build desire
c. Keep the details to yourself

Your perceived value according to Tim Erway is the deciding factor and must be greater than the need to safeguard ones email address.

5. PRIVACY – On top of offering high value, place your privacy statement close to the opt in box.

6. OPT IN – The submit button needs to be appealing Something like “I Want In” or “Free Instant Access”

If you are new to the world of on line marketing or have had a website with barely results in driving traffic to it this may seem a a bit overwhelming. I was delighted and I thought, in over my head.

I discovered it was as straightforward as paint by numbers. Though I was never really good at that. YOU can do this!

Again, let me recommend exploring the systems available that come with landing pages, training and free marketing methods.

Google Adwords: anchor in destination url?

I’ve been searching around for an answer but there doesnt seem to be one. I’m currently researching a campaign for a client and their site isnt really setup for receiving adwords traffic i.e. missing some important landing pages.

I was wondering if you could use page anchor links in adwords destination url? The client has pages with multiple products on the one page, which isnt great for conversions, however for a quick fix, using page anchor links could be very helpful. Anyone know?

If you have access to their website you can include the following HTML tags:

Tins of Baked Beans

Then your URL would be:

www.wesbite.co.uk/index.html#baked_beans

Obviously you don’t have to use the word “baked_beans” but it is often better to use a descriptive name, such as the name of the product.

This is the only way of doing this with your site.
