Making a Killer Landing Page Through Split Testing

Do you ever wonder what others think about your landing page? Better yet, is your landing page working for you? Understanding the effectiveness of your home page can be accomplished by a technique known as Split Testing. And conducting a test of this sort can help increase your conversion rate and your bottom-line.

A/B Split Test: Application and Measurement

There are various options when it comes to conducting a Split Test on your landing page. A common approach is the A/B split test. When conducting an A/B split test, you have two different versions of your web site – Landing Page A and Landing Page B.

The effectiveness and success of either of the page is based on certain measures/actions. These may include traffic, sales, subscribers, and CPC campaigns depending on your niche and industry. Software, such as Google’s website optimizer, helps perform the testing measures, executing the back-end work of gathering data.

With two versions of your site, which may have different headlines, graphics, text, colors and positioning of advertisements, you are ready to test the two pages. But before this, consider the “barometer” in comparing the two sites. For instance, are you looking at the number of subscribers that sign up on the site as a measurement to test a site’s effectiveness? Or are you specifically looking at the differences in sales from each landing page?

Determining your Page Winner

Undoubtedly, if site B yields better sales than site A, then you have a clear winner. But how and when do you determine the winner? As a rule of thumb, you are comparing the two sites based on combined sales of 30. If Page A resulted in 20 sales and Page B generated 10 sales, Page A is the clear winner of this test. .

But it doesn’t stop there. You will want to continue the testing process to make your winning page even more effective. Remember, you had 10 sales produced by Page B. Therefore, some aspects and features of the site were relatively effective. As a result, you can test different elements from Page B on Page A – text, graphics, positioning of advertisements, colors, etc.

By doing this, testing a feature from Page B on Page A, you either (a) increase sales OR (b) decrease sales. If the new added feature increases sales on Page A, it’s a keeper! However, if it decreases sales, you can go back to the original content of the Page.

You can apply this tactic to all of the elements you want tested – colors, layout, text, graphics, etc. You’ll know what works and what doesn’t. You can come up with the most effective landing page with improved performance yielding higher conversions in less than 2 weeks.

Home Business: Driving Traffic With a Landing Page

Most people get into a home based business with an affiliate program or by joining a network marketing company. And one of the benefits of becoming part of an established program is the fact that much of the advertising documents are done for you. Such as a website, sales copy, banners, etc.

But if you want to maximize your advertising dollar you need to set yourself apart from the rest and a landing page also known as a “Squeeze Page” is the perfect method.

Creating your own landing page gives you freedoms to generate traffic you don’t have with the company website. Below are a few ideas that will increase your traffic when utilizing a landing page over the company website.

It’s not all about you

The information on the landing page should not be all about you nor should it divulge your entire product. The key to a good landing page is “what’s in if for them”. You want to make it captivating so they are willing give you their information to find out more about what you have to offer.

Every good landing page will provide something to the reader. In order for them to give you what you’re looking for, their name and email address, they want some value for that information. This can be in the form of a free e-book, news letter or maybe a series of training on say driving traffic to your website. If the information you provide is of value, this positions you as an authority and increases your chances of making a sale. The key here is to always give before you expect to receive.

It’s all about traffic

Make sure you headline utilizes the main keywords you want to use to attract you prospect. And make sure you use it within your first six words. This helps the spiders know what your page is about and how to list you.

Also very important make sure the words on the page are not just words; they should have real meaning to your niche and provide search engine optimization benefits. In other words use good keywords that will cause someone looking for your product of service to want to click and go further. Pick wisely, and don’t use too many. If you use them too often you will look like a spammer and that will hurt more than help.

If you like to be in front of a camera, video is a great option for your landing page. People like to know who they are dealing with. If they see a real person who is offering real value you are more likely to have them move on to the next page.

I hope these few tips help you as you think about the design of your landing page. If you follow these few tips you will see increased traffic over the standard provided page offered by your affiliate program.

Can someone help with my history homework?

I have to creatively select three “souvenirs” from the civil war era
fore each souvenir, i have to create an advertisement that notes why someone should value this “collectible”

i’m having trouble being creative…
First, I’d like to know what are the three most essential “souvenirs” from the civil war, or the most “valuable” to our history now?
and how can i creatively tie them together in an advertisement?

Once for a project, i used the “____for dummies” generator (from google)
and used that as a cover page, i was able to change the name to “Exploring new lands for Dummies”
thats the kind of thing i mean by “creative ways to tie it together”

help would be SO appreciated, i’m desperate.

Here is an idea:
1) Real Confederate flag (torn up, burned up, blood, bullet holes, ect..) that was taken from a battle. (Ad can be about “The Fall of the South, in your very own hands!”)
2) Real Confederate or Union uniform (Ad “Be the coolest person in your reenactment! Real uniforms from the Civil War!”)
3) Used Cannon (”Neighbors seceding from your neighborhood? Bring them back like they did in the old days, buy the cannon!)

All of them are essential in some way, so I guess they will be good for your project :D
