You can apply this tactic to all of the elements you want tested – colors, layout, text, graphics, etc. You’ll know what works and what doesn’t. You can come up with the most effective landing page with improved performance yielding higher conversions in less than 2 weeks.

Can someone help with my history homework?


I have to creatively select three “souvenirs” from the civil war era
fore each souvenir, i have to create an advertisement that notes why someone should value this “collectible”

i’m having trouble being creative…
First, I’d like to know what are the three most essential “souvenirs” from the civil war, or the most “valuable” to our history now?
and how can i creatively tie them together in an advertisement?

Once for a project, i used the “____for dummies” generator (from google)
and used that as a cover page, i was able to change the name to “Exploring new lands for Dummies”
thats the kind of thing i mean by “creative ways to tie it together”

help would be SO appreciated, i’m desperate.

Here is an idea:
1) Real Confederate flag (torn up, burned up, blood, bullet holes, ect..) that was taken from a battle. (Ad can be about “The Fall of the South, in your very own hands!”)
2) Real Confederate or Union uniform (Ad “Be the coolest person in your reenactment! Real uniforms from the Civil War!”)
3) Used Cannon (”Neighbors seceding from your neighborhood? Bring them back like they did in the old days, buy the cannon!)

For any Internet business to succeed, generating TRAFFIC is absolutely essential.  That is, finding and implementing ways to entice potential buyers to read, see or hear your sales message and then to opt-in for additional information or to purchase.  Without generating traffic, it is unlikely anyone will see your message (unless they perhaps stumble upon it).

If you want to attract customers or clients, you must constantly be instituting competitive methods for creating interest and action from your target market.  Your target market is the group you have identified as seriously potential buyers of your product or service. 

Above all, you do not want to simply spend your time, energy, and money advertising to just anyone who will possibly listen — that is extremely ineffective.  When generating traffic, the process needs to include research and discipline when finding your possible buyers and reaching them in a way that is most profitable.

Consider these 8 traffic generating methods:

1.  Use Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising, such as Google’s AdWords or similar programs by  Yahoo or MSN.  This method does require a learning curve, so take the time to investigate how this process is successfully implemented.  When you do this right, the results can be profitable.  But, if you do not do your homework, it can be a very expensive learning process.

A good place to begin is to study the tutorials provided by Google’s AdWords website.  Then, you will also be able to find loads of additional training available by doing an online search.  There is no end to the ebooks, videos and courses on the topic of PPC advertising. 

And, a here’s tip: to get your sea legs, you may want to start this advertising method with one of the PPC programs other than Google.  It can be a little less expensive.

2.  Learn the science of effective keyword selection.  Here, again, the novice will find that there is a bit of learning curve.  But, when you do get the hang of researching and picking relevant keywords or phrases, you are likely to attract more targeted prospects.  And, when the search engines pick up on your high ranking keywords, your message is likely to be viewed by more people.  A pay-per-click ad has a better chance of appearing in the initial search results pages.  There are a number of very good keyword search tools.

3.  Create an Opt-in Page where visitors provide their name and email address for further information.  The opt-in page may be called a Squeeze Page, a Capture Page, an opt-in sales page or a variety of other names.  But, the bottom line is that the prospect voluntarily provides their contact information and it is added to your auto-responder mailing list.

It is this list of prospects and customers that becomes your cherished source for future sales.  Prior to obviously promoting a product or service, begin to develop a relationship with newly listed prospects to establish credibility.  It is important for people on your list to view you as someone they can trust.

4.  Create newsletters and special announcements to send out to your auto-responder list of subscribers.  Establish yourself as an “expert” on your particular topic.  Give your prospects or customers a reason to do business with you. 

If you are communicating effectively with your list, you will generate additional traffic by giving your readers a reason to forward your message or to share details about your particular product, service, or promotion with others. 

5.  Write articles and press releases. By writing and submitting articles to the article directories, you implement a marketing method for potentially long-term exposure.  At the end of the article you ad short informative copy about your product or service with a link to get additional information. 

Submitting a press release about your product or service can create a sense of urgency and value to what you are marketing.  The structure of the press release depends on the topic and where it is submitted.

6.  Implement the use of Viral Marketing. This is where you take the opportunity to include your website address and a short promotional blurb to sources that are likely to be shared by others.

With this marketing method, people can become so intrigued with the message or information you provide they feel compelled to pass it along to others. For example, you can attach a creative or informative message or link to various types of media — such as an article, some variation of gossip or buzz format, a funny video or entertaining game.

7.  Join forums or discussion sites to gain information and to share your knowledge.  Research forum websites for your particular topic, observe the communication exchanged on these sites, and eventually contribute value to establish your credibility as an “expert.”  As with articles, you can ad a brief blurb about your product or service and include a contact link.

8.  Exchange or trade links with other websites. This can be a great way to build business relationships with owners of other website or blog, and this method is free to inexpensive. Do a search for websites that will compliment the product or service that you offer.  Chances are the other website owner will consider this a good move as well. 

By showing each others website links, it brings additional attention to the sites — and the search engines like to see incoming links.  Also, when visitors see your link shown on someone else’s site, it may appear to be an implied endorsement.

6 Steps for That Million Dollar Squeeze Page

Make no mistake about it, making money writing articles can be tremendously profitable. But the real money, the consistent money, the massive profits, come from your list. List building is one area where size really does matter, the bigger your list, the bigger your income. And the better your squeeze page, the higher your opt in percentages. A squeeze page is web page where people sign into your list.

The primary (first) link in all of my articles will point to my squeeze page. With each article I write, I have two goals in mind. My primary goal is to entice them to opt into my list. I always offer a free report of some kind toward this goal. My second objective is to offer some sort of promotional sale item with each article. Granted, only a very small percentage of people will make a purchase after seeing a single article, but it is money just the same. Following are the 6 steps to building that perfect squeeze page and generating those huge profits:

1) Make sure your opt in box is ‘above the fold,’ that means, you will see this box without having to page up, page down, or otherwise use your mouse. Your opt in box should have a place of prominence on your page. I’ve heard some people say that they increased the conversion percentages substantially by moving their opt in box to the top. Although I must admit, I have not done that sort of research, so I can’t be certain about that.

2) There should never be any distractions on your squeeze page. No ads of any kind, no links, no nothing! Your one and only goal is to convince the reader to opt in.

3) Use a great headline in bold print and create a sense of urgency. You want to almost compel your reader to submit his name and email address.

4) Keep your opt in box simple. The more information you request, the lower your opt in numbers will be. I ask for name and email address, that’s all, two simple boxes.

5) Most people are concerned about their privacy. Provide a privacy statement saying that you won’t rent, share, or sell their information and place it right beneath the opt in box.

6) Give them something, create a sense of urgency, and sell, sell, sell! Make sure you provide plenty of reasons to opt in. It is important that you give away something, a free report, article, e-course, ebook, whatever.

Your long-term success depends upon the quality and quantity of your list. Don’t be afraid to tweak your squeeze page. Afterwards, test the results to see which page performed better. Remember, the long-term money is in your list, and the size of your list is directly related to the quality of your squeeze page.

The biggest craze in viral marketing techniques right now is “doorway pages”, “Lead Capture Pages“, “name squeeze pages”, or more commonly and simply termed…..”squeeze pages”. They all perform the same function, but are used in slightly different ways to ultimately achieve the same goal, to generate HUGE email lists of prospects that you can market your products, services, or affiliate programs at some point later on.

We’ve all heard it said 1000 times! “The money is in the list.” However, in this marketer’s professional oppinion, this statement is only partially true. You could have a GREAT prospect list of ONE MILLION PEOPLE, but if you don’t have anything to offer them, or worse than that if you are NOT sending out regular emails then you will never make a dime!

The money is in the FOLLOW UP, not just in the list itself!

You have to work hard to not only gain your prospect’s trust, but to KEEP it. If they feel some sort of connection with you when they see your emails coming in each week then they will be 100 times more likely to take the time to at least read what you’re offering them.

Don’t drown them with sales copy after sales copy. It is best to give your subscribers tid bits of valuable helpful information that they can use for whatever niche they’ve signed up for. If they think that you will be giving them the latest and greatest techniques they will WANT to read what you have to say in your emails that come in their email box. If you are offering really good content and not just a mountain of sales ads they will eventually look forward to it!

* Here’s a tip for you – Try NOT to sell them anything for the first 7 mailings. Send them out small bits of information that would give them something of value and of course include a link at the bottom of your emails for “more information”, but do not put any actual sales copy in your newsletters or ezines. Let them come to you on their terms at first. If they WANT more info they will click on that link that says “For more information on….” and THEN you will have a much better chance of converting the website visit in to a sale. If they visit your website at first this is fine. Statistics have shown that quite often a person needs to SEE or HEAR about a business an average of 7 times before they will feel comfortable BUYING from them. So give them something of value and then on the 8th email at the end of the second month start to offer them a little bit more “advice”, still making sure that you focus on the art of “selling by not selling”, which I will go in to greater detail about in my future articles.

One other nice implementation of a squeeze page that I’ve seen is one that passes information from the squeeze page on to the next page. So, the next page that you get to after filling in the form may have your name, or some other personal data, right in the copy on the page.

An example of the above might be a site selling pet toys. The form might ask what type of pet you have and your pet’s name. On the next page, for more detail visit to www.build-own-list.com as you read through the copy you might see your pet’s name scattered throughout the page, or you might see mention of the specific type of pet that you have.
